1. MedicationStatement
Definition | A record of a medication that is being consumed by a patient. A MedicationStatement may indicate that the patient may be taking the medication now, or has taken the medication in the past or will be taking the medication in the future. The source of this information can be the patient, significant other (such as a family member or spouse), or a clinician. A common scenario where this information is captured is during the history taking process during a patient visit or stay. The medication information may come from sources such as the patient's memory, from a prescription bottle, or from a list of medications the patient, clinician or other party maintains Norwegian profile: no-basis-Medication statement is the basic profile for communicating what the patient is using, has been using og plan to use. To be used in PLL and similar resources that communicate information about medication use. The profile has the following changes from MedicationStatement:

The medication information may come from sources such as the patient's memory, from a prescription bottle, or from a list of medications the patient, clinician or other party maintains. The primary difference between a medicationstatement and a medicationadministration is that the medication administration has complete administration information and is based on actual administration information from the person who administered the medication. A medicationstatement is often, if not always, less specific. There is no required date/time when the medication was administered, in fact we only know that a source has reported the patient is taking this medication, where details such as time, quantity, or rate or even medication product may be incomplete or missing or less precise. As stated earlier, the Medication Statement information may come from the patient's memory, from a prescription bottle or from a list of medications the patient, clinician or other party maintains. Medication administration is more formal and is not missing detailed information. The MedicationStatement resource was previously called MedicationStatement. |

2. MedicationStatement.implicitRules
Definition | A reference to a set of rules that were followed when the resource was constructed, and which must be understood when processing the content. Often, this is a reference to an implementation guide that defines the special rules along with other profiles etc. |
Control | 0..1 |
Type | uri |
Is Modifier | true |
Summary | true |
Comments | Asserting this rule set restricts the content to be only understood by a limited set of trading partners. This inherently limits the usefulness of the data in the long term. However, the existing health eco-system is highly fractured, and not yet ready to define, collect, and exchange data in a generally computable sense. Wherever possible, implementers and/or specification writers should avoid using this element. Often, when used, the URL is a reference to an implementation guide that defines these special rules as part of its narrative along with other profiles, value sets, etc. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
3. MedicationStatement.contained
Definition | These resources do not have an independent existence apart from the resource that contains them - they cannot be identified independently, nor can they have their own independent transaction scope. This is allowed to be a Parameters resource if and only if it is referenced by a resource that provides context/meaning. |
Control | 0..* This element is affected by the following invariants: dom-2, dom-4, dom-3, dom-5 |
Type | Resource |
Summary | false |
Alternate Names | inline resources, anonymous resources, contained resources |
Comments | This should never be done when the content can be identified properly, as once identification is lost, it is extremely difficult (and context dependent) to restore it again. Contained resources may have profiles and tags in their meta elements, but SHALL NOT have security labels. |
4. MedicationStatement.modifierExtension
Definition | May be used to represent additional information that is not part of the basic definition of the resource and that modifies the understanding of the element that contains it and/or the understanding of the containing element's descendants. Usually modifier elements provide negation or qualification. To make the use of extensions safe and managable, there is a strict set of governance applied to the definition and use of extensions. Though any implementer is allowed to define an extension, there is a set of requirements that SHALL be met as part of the definition of the extension. Applications processing a resource are required to check for modifier extensions. Modifier extensions SHALL NOT change the meaning of any elements on Resource or DomainResource (including cannot change the meaning of modifierExtension itself). |
Control | 0..* |
Type | Extension |
Is Modifier | true |
Summary | true |
Requirements | Modifier extensions allow for extensions that cannot be safely ignored to be clearly distinguished from the vast majority of extensions which can be safely ignored. This promotes interoperability by eliminating the need for implementers to prohibit the presence of extensions. For further information, see the definition of modifier extensions. |
Alternate Names | extensions, user content |
Comments | There can be no stigma associated with the use of extensions by any application, project, or standard - regardless of the institution or jurisdiction that uses or defines the extensions. The use of extensions is what allows the FHIR specification to retain a core level of simplicity for everyone. |

5. MedicationStatement.identifier
Definition | Identifiers associated with this Medication Statement that are defined by business processes and/or used to refer to it when a direct URL reference to the resource itself is not appropriate. They are business identifiers assigned to this resource by the performer or other systems and remain constant as the resource is updated and propagates from server to server. |

7. MedicationStatement.identifier:PLL-id.use
Definition | The purpose of this identifier. |
Control | 0..1 |
Binding | The codes SHALL be taken from IdentifierUse Identifies the purpose for this identifier, if known . |
Type | code |
Is Modifier | true |
Summary | true |
Requirements | Allows the appropriate identifier for a particular context of use to be selected from among a set of identifiers. |
Comments | Applications can assume that an identifier is permanent unless it explicitly says that it is temporary. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
8. MedicationStatement.identifier:PLL-id.type
Definition | A coded type for the identifier that can be used to determine which identifier to use for a specific purpose. |
Control | 0..1 |
Binding | The codes SHALL be taken from IdentifierTypeCodes; other codes may be used where these codes are not suitable A coded type for an identifier that can be used to determine which identifier to use for a specific purpose. |
Type | CodeableConcept |
Summary | true |
Requirements | Allows users to make use of identifiers when the identifier system is not known. |
Comments | This element deals only with general categories of identifiers. It SHOULD not be used for codes that correspond 1..1 with the Identifier.system. Some identifiers may fall into multiple categories due to common usage. Where the system is known, a type is unnecessary because the type is always part of the system definition. However systems often need to handle identifiers where the system is not known. There is not a 1:1 relationship between type and system, since many different systems have the same type. |
Fixed Value | <valueCodeableConcept xmlns="http://hl7.org/fhir"> <text value="PLL"/> </valueCodeableConcept> |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
9. MedicationStatement.identifier:PLL-id.type.text
Definition | A human language representation of the concept as seen/selected/uttered by the user who entered the data and/or which represents the intended meaning of the user. |
Control | 10..1 |
Type | string |
Summary | true |
Requirements | The codes from the terminologies do not always capture the correct meaning with all the nuances of the human using them, or sometimes there is no appropriate code at all. In these cases, the text is used to capture the full meaning of the source. |
Comments | Very often the text is the same as a displayName of one of the codings. |
Fixed Value | PLL |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
10. MedicationStatement.status
Definition | A code representing the patient or other source's judgment about the state of the medication used that this statement is about. Generally this will be active or completed. active = start date has passed and end date is not reached completed = end date is passed (for treatement that had an initial stop date) entered-in-error = deleted (ref Norwegian laws) intended = start date is not reached stopped = end date is passed and it was an active desition to stop the treatment on-hold = the treatment is paused A code representing the status of recording the medication statement. |
Control | 1..1 |
Binding | The codes SHALL be taken from MedicationStatementStatusCodes A coded concept indicating the current status of a MedicationStatement. |
Type | code |
Is Modifier | true |
Summary | true |
Comments | This status concerns just the recording of the medication statement. MedicationStatement.adherence should be used for indicating a patient's adherence to the information in this resource. Note, the statuses are different than in previous releases for MedicationStatement or MedicationStatement. This element is labeled as a modifier because the status contains codes that mark the resource as not currently valid. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
11. MedicationStatement.medication
Definition | Identifies the medication being administered. This is either a link to a resource representing the details of the medication or a simple attribute carrying a code that identifies the medication from a known list of medications. |
Control | 1..1 |
Binding | For example codes, see SNOMEDCTMedicationCodes A coded concept identifying the substance or product being taken. |
Type | CodeableReference(Medication) |
Summary | true |
Comments | If only a code is specified, then it needs to be a code for a specific product. If more information is required, then the use of the medication resource is recommended. For example, if you require form or lot number, then you must reference the Medication resource. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |

Type | id |
Summary | true |
Comments | Within the context of the FHIR RESTful interactions, the resource has an id except for cases like the create and conditional update. Otherwise, the use of the resouce id depends on the given use case. |
3. MedicationStatement.meta
Definition | The metadata about the resource. This is content that is maintained by the infrastructure. Changes to the content might not always be associated with version changes to the resource. |

5. MedicationStatement.language
Definition | The base language in which the resource is written. |
Control | 0..1 |
Binding | The codes SHALL be taken from AllLanguages IETF language tag for a human languag |
Type | code |
Summary | false |
Comments | Language is provided to support indexing and accessibility (typically, services such as text to speech use the language tag). The html language tag in the narrative applies to the narrative. The language tag on the resource may be used to specify the language of other presentations generated from the data in the resource. Not all the content has to be in the base language. The Resource.language should not be assumed to apply to the narrative automatically. If a language is specified, it should it also be specified on the div element in the html (see rules in HTML5 for information about the relationship between xml:lang and the html lang attribute). |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
6. MedicationStatement.text
Definition | A human-readable narrative that contains a summary of the resource and can be used to represent the content of the resource to a human. The narrative need not encode all the structured data, but is required to contain sufficient detail to make it "clinically safe" for a human to just read the narrative. Resource definitions may define what content should be represented in the narrative to ensure clinical safety. |
Control | 0..1 This element is affected by the following invariants: dom-6 |
Type | Narrative |
Summary | false |
Alternate Names | narrative, html, xhtml, display |
Comments | Contained resources do not have a narrative. Resources that are not contained SHOULD have a narrative. In some cases, a resource may only have text with little or no additional discrete data (as long as all minOccurs=1 elements are satisfied). This may be necessary for data from legacy systems where information is captured as a "text blob" or where text is additionally entered raw or narrated and encoded information is added later. |

Slicing | This element introduces a set of slices on MedicationStatement.identifier.extension. The slices are unordered and Open, and can be differentiated using the following discriminators:
|
14. MedicationStatement.identifier:PLL-id.use
Definition | The purpose of this identifier. |
Control | 0..1 |
Binding | The codes SHALL be taken from IdentifierUse Identifies the purpose for this identifier, if known |
15. MedicationStatement.identifier:PLL-id.type
Definition | A coded type for the identifier that can be used to determine which identifier to use for a specific purpose. |
Control | 0..1 |
Binding | The codes SHALL be taken from IdentifierTypeCodes; other codes may be used where these codes are not suitable A coded type for an identifier that can be used to determine which identifier to use for a specific purpose |
16. MedicationStatement.identifier:PLL-id.type.id
Definition | Unique id for the element within a resource (for internal references). This may be any string value that does not contain spaces. |
Control | 0..1 This element is affected by the following invariants: ele-1 |
Type | id |
XML Representation | In the XML format, this property is represented as an attribute. |
Summary | false |
17. MedicationStatement.identifier:PLL-id.type.extension
Definition | May be used to represent additional information that is not part of the basic definition of the element. To make the use of extensions safe and managable, there is a strict set of governance applied to the definition and use of extensions. Though any implementer can define an extension, there is a set of requirements that SHALL be met as part of the definition of the extension. |
Control | 0..* |
Type | Extension |
Summary | false |
Alternate Names | extensions, user content |
Comments | There can be no stigma associated with the use of extensions by any application, project, or standard - regardless of the institution or jurisdiction that uses or defines the extensions. The use of extensions is what allows the FHIR specification to retain a core level of simplicity for everyone. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) ext-1: Must have either extensions or value[x], not both (: extension.exists() != value.exists()) |
Slicing | This element introduces a set of slices on MedicationStatement.identifier.type.extension. The slices are unordered and Open, and can be differentiated using the following discriminators:
|
18. MedicationStatement.identifier:PLL-id.type.coding
Definition | A reference to a code defined by a terminology system. |
Control | 0..* |
Type | Coding |
Summary | true |
Requirements | Allows for alternative encodings within a code system, and translations to other code systems. |
Comments | Codes may be defined very casually in enumerations, or code lists, up to very formal definitions such as SNOMED CT - see the HL7 v3 Core Principles for more information. Ordering of codings is undefined and SHALL NOT be used to infer meaning. Generally, at most only one of the coding values will be labeled as UserSelected = true. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
19. MedicationStatement.identifier:PLL-id.type.text
Definition | A human language representation of the concept as seen/selected/uttered by the user who entered the data and/or which represents the intended meaning of the user. |
Control | 1..1 |
Type | string |
Summary | true |
Requirements | The codes from the terminologies do not always capture the correct meaning with all the nuances of the human using them, or sometimes there is no appropriate code at all. In these cases, the text is used to capture the full meaning of the source. |
Comments | Very often the text is the same as a displayName of one of the codings. |
Fixed Value | PLL |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
20. MedicationStatement.identifier:PLL-id.system
Definition | Establishes the namespace for the value - that is, an absolute URL that describes a set values that are unique. |
Control | 0..1 |
Type | uri |
Summary | true |
Requirements | There are many sets of identifiers. To perform matching of two identifiers, we need to know what set we're dealing with. The system identifies a particular set of unique identifiers. |
Comments | Identifier.system is always case sensitive. |
Example | General:http://www.acme.com/identifiers/patient |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
21. MedicationStatement.identifier:PLL-id.value
Definition | The portion of the identifier typically relevant to the user and which is unique within the context of the system. |
Control | 0..1 This element is affected by the following invariants: ident-1 |
Type | string |
Summary | true |
Comments | If the value is a full URI, then the system SHALL be urn:ietf:rfc:3986. The value's primary purpose is computational mapping. As a result, it may be normalized for comparison purposes (e.g. removing non-significant whitespace, dashes, etc.) A value formatted for human display can be conveyed using the http://hl7.org/fhir/StructureDefinition/rendered-value). Identifier.value is to be treated as case sensitive unless knowledge of the Identifier.system allows the processer to be confident that non-case-sensitive processing is safe. |
Example | General:123456 |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
22. MedicationStatement.identifier:PLL-id.period
Definition | Time period during which identifier is/was valid for use. |
Control | 0..1 |
Type | Period |
Summary | true |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
23. MedicationStatement.identifier:PLL-id.assigner
Definition | Organization that issued/manages the identifier. |
Control | 0..1 |
Type | Reference(Organization) |
Summary | true |
Comments | The Identifier.assigner may omit the .reference element and only contain a .display element reflecting the name or other textual information about the assigning organization. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
24. MedicationStatement.partOf

Control | 0..* |
Type | Reference(Procedure|MedicationStatement) |
Summary | false |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
25. MedicationStatement.status
Definition | A code representing the patient or other source's judgment about the state of the medication used that this statement is about. Generally this will be active or completed. active = start date has passed and end date is not reached completed = end date is passed (for treatement that had an initial stop date) entered-in-error = deleted (ref Norwegian laws) intended = start date is not reached stopped = end date is passed and it was an active desition to stop the treatment on-hold = the treatment is paused |
Control | 1..1 |
Binding | The codes SHALL be taken from MedicationStatementStatusCodes A coded concept indicating the current status of a MedicationStatement |
26. MedicationStatement.category
Definition | Type of medication statement (for example, drug classification like ATC, where meds would be administered, legal category of the medication.). |
Control | 0..* |
Binding | For example codes, see MedicationRequestAdministrationLocationCodes A coded concept identifying where the medication included in the MedicationStatement is expected to be consumed or administered |
Type | CodeableConcept |
Summary | true |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
27. MedicationStatement.medication
Definition | Identifies the medication being administered. This is either a link to a resource representing the details of the medication or a simple attribute carrying a code that identifies the medication from a known list of medications. |
Control | 1..1 |
Binding | For example codes, see SNOMEDCTMedicationCodes A coded concept identifying the substance or product being taken |
28. MedicationStatement.subject
Definition | The person, animal or group who is/was taking the medication. |

Control | 0..1 |
Type | Choice of: dateTime, Period, Timing |
[x] Note | See Choice of Data Types for further information about how to use [x] |
Summary | true |
Comments | This attribute reflects the period over which the patient consumed the medication and is expected to be populated on the majority of Medication Statements. If the medication is still being taken and is expected to continue indefinitely at the time the usage is recorded, the "end" date will be omitted. If the end date is known, then it is included as the "end date". The date/time attribute supports a variety of dates - year, year/month and exact date. If something more than this is required, this should be conveyed as text. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
31. MedicationStatement.dateAsserted
Definition | The date when the Medication Statement was asserted by the information source. |

Control | 0..* |
Type | Reference(Resource) |
Summary | false |
Comments | Likely references would be to MedicationRequest, MedicationDispense, Claim, Observation or QuestionnaireAnswers. The most common use cases for deriving a MedicationStatement comes from creating a MedicationStatement from a MedicationRequest or from a lab observation or a claim. it should be noted that the amount of information that is available varies from the type resource that you derive the MedicationStatement from. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
34. MedicationStatement.reason
Definition | A concept, Condition or observation that supports why the medication is being/was taken. |
Control | 0..* |
Binding | For example codes, see ConditionProblemDiagnosisCodes A coded concept identifying why the medication is being taken |
Type | CodeableReference(Condition|Observation|DiagnosticReport) |
Summary | false |
Comments | This could be a diagnosis code. If a full condition record exists or additional detail is needed, use reasonForUseReference. |

44. MedicationStatement.reason:ICPC2.concept.coding.system
Definition | The identification of the code system that defines the meaning of the symbol in the code. |
Control | 1..1 |
Type | uri |
Summary | true |
Requirements | Need to be unambiguous about the source of the definition of the symbol. |
Comments | The URI may be an OID (urn:oid:...) or a UUID (urn:uuid:...). OIDs and UUIDs SHALL be references to the HL7 OID registry. Otherwise, the URI should come from HL7's list of FHIR defined special URIs or it should be an absolute reference to some definition that establishes the system clearly and unambiguously. |
Fixed Value | urn:oid:2.16.578.1.12.4.1.1.7170 |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
45. MedicationStatement.reason:ICPC2.concept.coding.version
Definition | The version of the code system which was used when choosing this code. Note that a well-maintained code system does not need the version reported, because the meaning of codes is consistent across versions. However this cannot consistently be assured, and when the meaning is not guaranteed to be consistent, the version SHOULD be exchanged. |
Note | This is a business versionId, not a resource version id (see discussion) |
Control | 0..1 |
Type | string |
Summary | true |
Comments | Where the terminology does not clearly define what string should be used to identify code system versions, the recommendation is to use the date (expressed in FHIR date format) on which that version was officially published as the version date. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
46. MedicationStatement.reason:ICPC2.concept.coding.code

48. MedicationStatement.reason:ICPC2.concept.coding.userSelected
Definition | Indicates that this coding was chosen by a user directly - e.g. off a pick list of available items (codes or displays). |
Control | 0..1 |
Type | boolean |
Summary | true |
Requirements | This has been identified as a clinical safety criterium - that this exact system/code pair was chosen explicitly, rather than inferred by the system based on some rules or language processing. |
Comments | Amongst a set of alternatives, a directly chosen code is the most appropriate starting point for new translations. There is some ambiguity about what exactly 'directly chosen' implies, and trading partner agreement may be needed to clarify the use of this element and its consequences more completely. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
49. MedicationStatement.reason:ICPC2.concept.text

59. MedicationStatement.reason:ICD10.concept.coding.extension
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) ext-1: Must have either extensions or value[x], not both (: extension.exists() != value.exists()) |
Slicing | This element introduces a set of slices on MedicationStatement.reason.concept.coding.extension. The slices are unordered and Open, and can be differentiated using the following discriminators:
|
60. MedicationStatement.reason:ICD10.concept.coding.system
Fixed Value | urn:oid:2.16.578.1.12.4.1.1.7110 |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
61. MedicationStatement.reason:ICD10.concept.coding.version
62. MedicationStatement.reason:ICD10.concept.coding.code
Definition | A symbol in syntax defined by the system. The symbol may be a predefined code or an expression in a syntax defined by the coding system (e.g. post-coordination). |
Control | 1..1 This element is affected by the following invariants: cod-1 |
Type | code |
Summary | true |
Requirements | Need to refer to a particular code in the system. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
63. MedicationStatement.reason:ICD10.concept.coding.display
Definition | A representation of the meaning of the code in the system, following the rules of the system. |
Control | 1..1 This element is affected by the following invariants: cod-1 |
Type | string |
Summary | true |
Requirements | Need to be able to carry a human-readable meaning of the code for readers that do not know the system. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
64. MedicationStatement.reason:ICD10.concept.coding.userSelected
65. MedicationStatement.reason:ICD10.concept.text
Definition | A human language representation of the concept as seen/selected/uttered by the user who entered the data and/or which represents the intended meaning of the user. |
Control | 0..1 |
Type | string |
Summary | true |
Requirements | The codes from the terminologies do not always capture the correct meaning with all the nuances of the human using them, or sometimes there is no appropriate code at all. In these cases, the text is used to capture the full meaning of the source. |
Comments | Very often the text is the same as a displayName of one of the codings. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
66. MedicationStatement.reason:ICD10.reference
Definition | A reference to a resource the provides exact details about the information being referenced. |
Control | 0..1 |
Type | Reference |
Summary | true |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
67. MedicationStatement.note

Control | 0..* |
Type | Annotation |
Summary | false |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |

Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
69. MedicationStatement.renderedDosageInstruction
Definition | The full representation of the dose of the medication included in all dosage instructions. To be used when multiple dosage instructions are included to represent complex dosing such as increasing or tapering doses. |
Control | 0..1 |
Type | markdown |
Summary | false |
Requirements | The content of the renderedDosageInstructions must not be different than the dose represented in the dosageInstruction content. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
70. MedicationStatement.dosage
Definition | Indicates how the medication is/was or should be taken by the patient. |
Control | 0..* |
Type | Dosage |
Summary | false |
Comments | The dates included in the dosage on a Medication Statement reflect the dates for a given dose. For example, "from November 1, 2016 to November 3, 2016, take one tablet daily and from November 4, 2016 to November 7, 2016, take two tablets daily." It is expected that this specificity may only be populated where the patient brings in their labeled container or where the Medication Statement is derived from a MedicationRequest. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
71. MedicationStatement.adherence
Definition | Indicates whether the medication is or is not being consumed or administered. |
Control | 0..1 |
Type | BackboneElement |
Summary | true |
Comments | This element can be used to indicate whether a patient is following a course of treatment as instructed/prescribed or whether they are taking medications of their own volition. It can also be used to indicate that a patient is not taking a medication, either because they were told not to or because they decided on their own. |
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) |
72. MedicationStatement.adherence.id
Definition | Unique id for the element within a resource (for internal references). This may be any string value that does not contain spaces. |
Control | 0..1 This element is affected by the following invariants: ele-1 |
Type | string |
XML Representation | In the XML format, this property is represented as an attribute. |
Summary | false |
73. MedicationStatement.adherence.extension
Invariants | Defined on this element ele-1: All FHIR elements must have a @value or children (: hasValue() or (children().count() > id.count())) ext-1: Must have either extensions or value[x], not both (: extension.exists() != value.exists()) |
74. MedicationStatement.adherence.modifierExtension
Definition | May be used to represent additional information that is not part of the basic definition of the element and that modifies the understanding of the element in which it is contained and/or the understanding of the containing element's descendants. Usually modifier elements provide negation or qualification. To make the use of extensions safe and managable, there is a strict set of governance applied to the definition and use of extensions. Though any implementer can define an extension, there is a set of requirements that SHALL be met as part of the definition of the extension. |
